Satin Pillowcases protect your hair and skin from damage while you sleep

By , January 22, 2014 12:43 pm

Satin Pillow cases are wonderful for the hair and skin. The smooth satin weave allows the hair and skin to glide across, rather than pulling on the fabric as with a cotton pillow case.

By sleeping on soft satin pillow cases helps you wake up with great looking hair and skin….

  • keep wrinkles at bay ….
  • Especially good for “difficult to care for hair” and reduces “bedhead”.
  • Soft satin pillow cases are very much in demand by people who experience “bed head”, or who wake up with creases in their delicate facial skin.
  • The satin will not pull moisture from the skin or hair like cotton will.
  • The smooth satin finish allows your hair and skin to glide across the pillow, no dragging, less knotting and no friction.
  • No friction means a significant reduction in raised cuticle layers which lead to split ends.

Satin Sheets and Bed Linen – Soft Sensual and Luxurious

Looking for Satin Bed Linen. What is Satin?

One of the problems people find when they start looking for Satin Bed Linen is there is a common misconception about the term. Satin is the term for a fabric weave, not a specific fabric.

Satin is a Weave

The satin weave is characterized by four or more weft yarns floating over a warp yarn or vice versa. This explains the even sheen, as unlike in other weaves, the light reflecting is not scattered as much by the fibres, which have fewer tucks. If a fabric is formed with a satin weave using filament fibres such as silk, polyester or nylon it is termed a Satin. If the yarns used are short-staple yarns such as cotton, the fabric formed is considered a Sateen.

High Quality Satin Silk and Polyester Satin

High quality Satin is produced in Pure Silk and also can be found in Polyester. Both of these are woven fabrics. There are knitted Polyester and Nylon Satins which are very poor quality and should be avoided at all costs. The highest quality Satin Silk is woven from the finest Mulberry Silk. The best quality of Polyester Satin requires an extremely high quality of Polyester Thread combined with a Silk Satin weave. Much then depends on dyeing and subsequent processes to achieve a Silk like fabric.

Both Silk Satin and Polyester Satin of the very highest quality with a soft, sensual and tactile feel are available in the unique ranges of Luxury Bed Linen from Between the Sheets. Click Here for more information

Satin Pillow Cases

If you are looking for Satin pillowcases you have come to the right place for information. The first thing you need to know is that the tem “Satin” doesn’t mean a fabric.  It is actually the term for a weave.

Satin Weave

The satin weave is made with four or more  weft yarns floating over a warp yarn or vice versa. This explains the even shine typical of satin, as unlike in other weaves, the light hitting the fabric is reflected making it shiny.

Satin when applied to a fabric usually means Pure Silk or Polyester Satin. If you buy Satin Pillowcases of  good quality Poly Satin you will get a lovely silky pillowcase which will be soft and sensual to the touch. Polyester Satin pillowcases are easy care and can be machined washed at 40C.

Pure Silk Satin

For a real touch of Luxury choose Pure Silk Satin Pillowcases. They are beautiful to sleep on and are a real beauty aid – preventing the formation of wrinkles and stopping that ‘bedhead’ look first thiing in the morning.

Satin Pillow cases for Beautiful Hair

The special weave of the satin makes the fabric soft and your skin and hair just glide over the surface when you move. Cotton and similar fabrics by comparison catch and snag your delicate skin and pull at your  hair causing it to frizz.

What is Satin?

What is Satin?

Many people get confused with the word Satin . It is widely thought that it is a type of fabric like Cotton but it is not.  Satin is a term for a weave. It is usually used to describe fabrics made from long filaments.

Satin is a weave not a fabric

Satin is a weave that typically has a glossy surface and a dull back. It is a warp-dominated weaving technique that forms a minimum number of interlacings in a fabric. A fabric formed with a satin weave using filament fibres such as silk,  or polyester, is termed a satin fabric . If  yarns such as cotton are used, the fabric formed is considered a sateen.
A satin-woven fabric tends to have a high lustre due to the high number of floats on the fabric. Floats are missed interlacings, where the warp yarn lies on top of the weft yarn, or vice versa. The floats tend to make the fabric look glossier as well as give it a smoother surface.
